Chris Soules Says ‘The Bachelor’ Harder Than ‘Dancing With The Stars’

The Bachelor and Dancing With the Stars don’t have much in common except their networks, their Monday night timeslots, and their recent star, Chris Soules. Few DWTS contestants come into the ballroom fresh off the Bachelor or Bachelorette, and therefore few can compare what it’s like to participate in both shows. After his elimination from Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday night, Soules told People handing out roses is far more difficult than dancing.

“‘DWTS’ is a different type of exhaustion but no matter how hard it got mentally and physically, I was always like, I just want more. I wanted to be here another week. Going on ‘The Bachelor’ was hard. I was making a lot of tough decisions that I struggled with. ‘DWTS’ is easier than being the Bachelor, quite honestly.”

Soules was clearly disappointed when he failed to make the semi-finals. The Iowa farmer was teary-eyed as he told hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews that he had made progress in something completely new to him. Indeed, Soules and partner Witney Carson had seen a steady increase in scores, and Carrie Ann Inaba had dubbed Soules the most improved contestant of the season.

You can have a look at Soules’ last moments on the Dancing With the Stars stage in the video clip below.

While his time on The Bachelor landed him a fiance in Whitney Bischoff, Soules may feel that his time on Dancing With the Stars ended too early. Despite his desire to progress in his relationship with Bischoff in private, and get back to “what he’s good at,” Soules really wanted to go as far as possible in the ballroom competition.

“I was in this to get as far as I could possibly get, and hopefully make it to the end. I didn’t get there. That was disappointing. It’s a letdown. But it’s over and I’m excited to move on with life.”

Chris Soules had a number of interesting women that vied for his affections on The Bachelor. Bischoff got the final rose, but only after he had said goodbye to controversial contestant Kelsey Poe and future Bachelorettes Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson. Soules was himself fresh off a season of The Bachelorette, when he was sent home by now-single Andi Dorfman.

Dancing With the Stars semi-finals start Monday on ABC.
