‘The Bachelorette’: What Lie Do The Guys Tell To Hide Their Participation In Kaitlyn Bristowe’s Season?

Every season on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, the single person at the center of the action and his or her suitors go on exotic dates, consume plenty of alcohol, and have faux-romantic encounters in far-off locations. Filming is nearly complete by the time the episodes air, which means participants in the show have to partake in some cover-ups to prevent spoilers from being leaked.

So when he released pictures of some of the upcoming Bachelorette‘s men travelling during filming, Reality Steve let readers in on a little secret. The men and women in contention for the final rose have a story that they tell when someone questions why they are all travelling together. Apparently, people are supposed to believe they are in training for an athletic event.

“[The contestants] are not supposed to interact with anyone in the airport or on the plane other than each other… For past seasons whether it’s ‘Bachelor’ or ‘Bachelorette,’ they have been told to tell people they are a traveling volleyball team or soccer team. On this particular day, the guys were telling people they were on a rowing team.”

Of course, even brilliant cover stories such as the travelling sports team don’t prevent spoilers from getting out. It’s long been revealed that the Bachelorette twist this season — two bachelorettes — is resolved pretty quickly. Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson are subject to a vote and it’s Bristowe who comes out on top.

BuddyTV revealed more spoilers Tuesday, specifically that Ireland is on the travel agenda, there’s a private concert by The Cranberries, and Amy Schumer makes a guest appearance. The premiere episode has a controversial suitor who pulls a “disrespectful move,” causing “chaos” among the men.

Nilsson and Bristowe showed off their Bachelorette style in new shots for People magazine, where both donned grey evening gowns. Remaining diplomatic about the “not ideal” head-to-head scenario, Bristowe had kind words for Nilsson.

“[Britt is a] lovely human being. … But, at the end of the day, we’re very different people.”

And Nilsson had kind things to say about Bristowe.

“[Kaitlyn is] very likable, and she’s gorgeous, obviously. Part of me is scared, but the more I think about it, [I realize] it’s just going to be what it’s going to be. If Kaitlyn’s husband is in that group of men, it’s going to work out for her, and I’ll go home and I’ll have to be okay with that. But I’m excited!”

As Bristowe and Nilsson are moving on after their time with Bachelor Chris Soules, their former love and his fiance, Whitney Bischoff, are choosing to remain low-key about their burgeoning relationship. The Iowa farmer will have more time to spend with Whitney since he has been eliminated from Dancing With the Stars.

The new season of The Bachelorette gets underway May 18.
