Miley Cyrus is helping other celebrities revive the pink hair trend, but she just couldn’t resist giving it her own unique twist. Instead of dying the hair on her head, she decided to give herself bubblegum-colored armpits.
According to People, Miley Cyrus recently showed off her pink armpit hair on Instagram, and the former Hannah Montana star took her pink pit staining very seriously — she actually enlisted professional colorist Justin Anderson to help her with her quirky dye job. The process included bleaching Miley’s armpit hair, applying the pink dye, wearing a pig mask, drinking beer, and lots of posing with raised arms (more on this in a minute).
You can check out Miley’s “pank” armpit hair below. The bottom of her NSFW Instagram photo has been cut off because it looks like she didn’t just dye her armpit hair pink.
According to Gossip Cop, Miley Cyrus first showed off her fuzzy armpit hair on Instagram last month. The “Wrecking Ball” singer was trying to pay tribute to Joan Jett by showing off her heart-shaped “JJ” nipple pasties, but many of her Instagram followers were distracted by her unshaven pits. They complained that her underarm hair was disgusting, and there were plenty of “Eww!” and “omg!” exclamations in the comments accompanying the photo.
Those same disgusted Miley fans who saw the more recent photo below were probably relieved — they likely thought that the singer was in the process of shaving off her scraggly pit hair. However, she was just bleaching it to prep for the pink dye.
While waiting for the bleach to process, Miley found ways to entertain herself (Warning: It’s never a good idea to drink and dye).
Miley Cyrus also shared a photo of herself pretending to lick the pink dye under her armpits. She helpfully captioned the pic, “Don’t eat the bleach baby.”
Miley isn’t the only celebrity who is thinking pink this spring. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Dancing with the Stars host Julianne Hough recently decided to dye her hair Barbie’s favorite hue. Miley’s pixie cut twin, Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco, also recently debuted a new cotton candy hair color.
Pink head hair is a hot trend in Hollywood that pops up over and over again, but it seems unlikely that Miley’s pink pit hair will catch on with other stars. However, Miley actually isn’t the first celeb to show off colorful armpits — according to Us Weekly, Lady Gaga rocked turquoise-colored armpit “wigs” during a 2011 performance.
What do you think of Miley Cyrus’ pink underarm hair? Is it pretty, or is it the pits?
