‘The Vampire Diaries’ Finale Spoilers: Cast Members Tease Nina Dobrev’s Exit

The Vampire Diaries is preparing for the end of Elena Gilbert. Nina Dobrev is exiting the series, and fans have been preparing to say good-bye. The series appears to be taking Elena down the path of regaining her humanity after taking the cure for vampirism. This week’s episode will show the struggle she has making that decision.

Will she take the cure or remain a vampire?

With her exit, many fans are assuming that Elena Gilbert will take the cure. Damon even offered to take the cure with her. Did everyone forget what happened to Katherine after she took the vampire cure? She died not long after.

Kat Graham, the actress behind Bonnie Bennett, spoke about Nina Dobrev’s exit during the finale with TV Guide.

“I don’t know if it’s a sad thing. Change for a lot of us, for anyone, is very difficult, but I wouldn’t say the episode is going to leave you sad. I think, I’m hoping, people will be excited for what’s next and our journey as a family together. I’m actually happy [because] I think there is some risk-taking in the finale. Even if one chapter closes, sometimes people don’t really deal with things and they don’t end things how they need to, and I’m excited for the fans to see that.”

Some fans have wondered if Elena’s exit would open up the opportunity for a Bonnie and Damon pairing on the series. The couple did form in the book series that the series is based on. Bonnie and Damon did spend four months alone together, and their relationship changed during those four months.

However, the pair is not on friendly terms now. That could change once Elena is out of the picture though. Julie Plec has already revealed that The Vampire Diaries Season 7 would focus on the Salvatore brothers. Damon and Stefan will have more to deal with next season. Stefan has his relationship to sort through, and Damon will need to overcome the loss of Elena.

Michael Malarkey also talked about The Vampire Diaries season finale and Dobrev’s exit. He shared a few clues about how her exit is handled in a recent interview, according to Digital Spy.

“It’s pretty under wraps. I think it’s a really tasteful way to do it. She gets to say goodbye to everybody, in a certain way. You get to see some scenes with her and a lot of other characters. It’s going to be a chance for the fans to recall a lot of those relationships and how they’ve progressed over the years.”

In addition to his comments about the finale, Malarkey also showed his support for Nina and her decision. He called her decision to leave the series now a “smart move” for her, and he said that it is a chance for the series to “revamp” itself by focusing on other characters and different love triangles.

What do you think? Will Elena take the cure? On the other hand, will her exit from The Vampire Diaries involve something else?
