Scarlett Johansson Reveals The Joys And Trials Of Marriage

Scarlett Johansson is actively committed to making her family healthy, successful, and strong. The American singer, model, and actress unites with her second husband in facing challenges in their relationship.

In October last year, Scarlett married former journalist and French art curator Romain Dauriac. One month prior to their marriage, Scarlett and Romain welcomed their first child, whom they named Rose Dorothy Dauriac.

Like most parents, Scarlett and Romain share a passion for their newborn child.

Johansson expressed her joy in an interview with Parade magazine.

“The biggest joy that I have is looking at my daughter. When I’m just hanging out with her and we’re doing silly stuff and if I make her laugh, the feeling of joy I have is explosive. If I can make her laugh and she gets a big smile on her face, that’s pretty much it. If only you could actually bottle that and carry it around.”

Maintaining the joy, happiness, and success for this new family can be quite difficult at times. Especially since Scarlett, Romain, and Rose Dorothy don’t have one place they call home.

Johansson said, “I live a little bit of everywhere. My husband and I and the baby are a little bit nomadic at the moment.”

Currently, when Scarlett is not performing or acting in a movie or television appearance, the family lives in New York, close to her family, and at other times, in Paris — close to Romain’s family. Traveling from one place to another can cause a lot of stress, anxiety, and separation in a marriage.

Scarlett adds how success or failure in the acting profession can be detrimental to a marriage and family life.

“Acting is a very strange world to be co-existing in. It’s very volatile. There’s always going to be the more successful person. It’s related to rejection. Because actors, if they’re not having success, connect it directly to unpopularity—to the fact that nobody wants them. It’s not necessarily true. I’m constantly rejected.”

Most people wouldn’t think Scarlett Johansson would be rejected. Nonetheless, rejection is a part of life and goes with the territory, according to the sultry actress.

The 30-year-old actress continues to explain more about dealing with rejection in their marriage.

“[Marriage] takes a lot of work. It takes a man who’s not only confident in the love that you have for one another, but confident in what he has going on in his own career. He has to be in a field that’s completely different from yours. My husband’s also involved in art. What’s important to him is the recognition that he gets from his job, and that has nothing to do with my job.”

Scarlett elaborates on what helps in making their marriage strong.

“We like to go out and go dancing. Other times, we like to sit at home and eat Thai food and watch House Hunters International for four hours. And we’re interested in each other’s worlds. He’s interested in my weird, alien entertainment world. It fascinates him because it’s so different than what he knows. And I like to go to art openings with him and talk about art and emerging artists with him. That’s his passion.”

For the fourth time, Scarlett Johansson is hosting Saturday Night Live in her hometown, New York City, on May 2. The SNL promo recently hit the web showing Scarlett Johansson with Kenan Thompson in a few short clips.

Fans can see more of Scarlett Johansson in her return for the fourth time as the Black Widow in Avengers: Age of Ultron, scheduled to open on May 1.
