Leave it to good old Reddit to help a YouTube video go viral. That’s what happening to the below video titled “Woman In The Mirror,” uploaded by comedian Tamale Rocks on April 26. About one day later and that video has enjoyed nearly 50,000 views. The reason is because Rocks discovered a door inside the women’s bathroom with a two-way mirror at the Cigars & Stripes bar at 6715 Ogden Avenue in Berwyn, Illinois.
“Last night, I discovered a two-way mirror in the restroom in Berwyn, IL. When I went to use the restroom last night in Berwyn, IL, I noticed a full-length mirror opposite of the toilet. Curious, I explored and discovered that it was two-way mirror, the door behind it cut away to allow an unobstructed view of the toilet…and anyone who may be using it.”
“Women are often told that we are ‘paranoid,’ that the extra precautions we take are ‘excessive.’ We are not. We engage in varying levels of due diligence, because if (or more likely when) something happens, we are the ones blamed. If something doesn’t happen (that time), we are written off as ‘acting crazy’ and ‘overreacting.’ When something does happen, it is common to blame and shame the person it happened to, instead of holding the person who committed the violation accountable.”
According to the YouTube description, Tamale performed at the Cigars & Stripes locale and then discovered the two-way mirror on a door, which could be opened. When Rocks opened the door, she uncovered a utility-like closet directly across from the women’s toilet. Hopefully, most women would close the toilet door (assuming there is one) before doing their business — yet and still, the thought of someone hiding out behind that door and possibly filming a person has made folks uncomfortable.
“I will burn this f****** place to the ground before I get rid of that mirror. Do you know how much joy that mirror has brought to us?”
What Tamale found in the bathroom is being called shocking by publications like Cosmopolitan as the story goes viral, and the fact that the owner told Jezebel that the two-way mirror in the bathroom isn’t going anywhere is what’s really angering some people. The odd and yet outrageous and infuriating responses gathered by Jezebel when their reported called the Cigars & Stripes establishment is what’s making their Yelp and Facebook pages light up with comments.
On Reddit and other websites, certain folks are excusing the fact that a two-way mirror was found in the women’s bathroom — saying they don’t care that it’s there, and that the place has great wings. Other folks aren’t so sure about the nefarious purposes of such a device, and are somewhat baffled by the owner’s comments about ghosts and dead bodies and the like. Apparently, folks will vote with their wallets — and decide for themselves if they love the place enough to continue going their and using the bathroom, or only visit if the owner decides to change his tune and make women feel more comfortable.
As reported by the Inquisitr, Kris Jenner experienced a privacy hack, as displayed on Sunday night’s episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, when she learned that her closet camera was hacked, and that nude videos stolen from her iCloud were being threatened to be released to the public if she didn’t pay up. Jenner called the move extortion, which is illegal, as discovered by Cassidy Wolf’s hacker, who was sent to prison.
