Michael Kors is an award-winning designer that is making his presence known through his ready-to-wear line available on the high street. After studying in Manhattan at the Fashion Institute, Michael Kors went on to create what has become an enduring and iconic luxury global empire with stores in some of the most prestigious cities in the world, including New York, Beverly Hills, Chicago, London, Milan, and Paris.
Since his first runway show in 1984 Michael Kors has been the recipient of numerous industry awards and has been a judge on the Emmy-nominated reality show Project Runway since 2004.
Michael seems to have bucked the trend of brand saturation affecting luxury positioning, as fashion icons and high end customers still love and respect the brand. This is despite the fact that a Micheal Kors handbag is freely available at a price that remains within reach of your fashion-conscious, high-street shopper.
According to the annual reports, the Kors brand continues to go from strength to strength with a strong focus on marketing, customer care, and by increasing the number of stores worldwide.

Just this week another Micheal Kors shop opened in Chengdu, China, with a confidence that has not been seen since the fashion excesses of the 1980s.

With over 400 retail stores and in 3,700 department and specialty stores world-wide, there have been concerns that the brand is growing to saturation according to the Wall Street Journal, yet Michael Kors has the confidence to grow his luxury brand, when so many others shy away from giving easy and affordable access to theirs.
It appears that Kors has a certain, je ne sais quoi that keeps women wanting what is offered. Other luxury brands have not managed to grow at this pace and still hold their brand position. Only time will tell if the Michael Kors brand will be as respected on the catwalks of the world as it is accessible on the high street.
