Kandi Burruss Slams NeNe Leakes: ‘The Show Isn’t About One Person’

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss has been on the show for a couple of seasons and it sounds like she knows what it takes to be on a wildly successful television franchise. Burruss, who has found success in the music industry, knows that success comes from a team of people, not an individual. While Kandi Burruss may not enjoy NeNe Leakes’ accusations that all of the women are jealous of her, she doesn’t have a problem setting her co-star in her place.

According to a new Wetpaint Entertainment report, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss is now revealing that the show’s success isn’t due to NeNe Leakes alone and adds that The Real Housewives of Atlanta would surely survive if she decides to leave the franchise behind. Leakes often talks about she feels betrayed by the other ladies and would love to leave Bravo behind. Thus far, it has been all words, no action.

“I think it would be fine, to be honest with you,” Kandi Burruss revealed to Andy Cohen during Watch What Happens Live, adding, “I know everybody’s like ‘Oh that would be crazy’, but people thought it was going to be crazy when Kim left the show and our ratings went up, they didn’t go down.”

Kandi Burruss does bring up a good point. Many people felt that The Real Housewives of Atlanta would be ruined when Kim Zolciak left. Some would argue that the success of the show depended on NeNe Leakes staying around, but many of the other housewives have also offered up some interesting storylines. Kandi has struggled with her mother’s support, a husband who has been labeled an opportunist and a business partner, who isn’t exactly loving Kandi’s new home life.

“We’ve gotta remember that the show isn’t about one person, it’s about everybody. It depends on the people that we continue to add next season,” Kandi reveals, adding, “I think NeNe is great for the show and I want to make that clear because I know everybody thinks I’m hating. I just feel like the show is bigger than one person. If [NeNe is the reason people are watching] then her show by herself would have had the same numbers as Housewives.”

It does seem odd that Burruss would go after Leakes like this, but NeNe may have been asking for it. According to the Inquisitr, Leakes has said that Burruss is sad on the inside and that she herself has been under tremendous pressure from both her co-stars and producers, who have tried to make her quit the show. Kandi Burruss surely didn’t play a role in that.

The reality is, however, that the franchise would probably do just fine without NeNe. With Phaedra Parks’ marital issues and Kenya Moore’s growing career, there are plenty of plot lines to focus on. Not everyone cares to watch Leakes on Broadway.
