Animal Nose-Wearing Record Set In Michigan

During a comedy festival in Grand Rapids Michigan, 607 people donned chicken beaks in order to set a new Guinness World Record for more animal nose-wearing people in a single location.

This isn’t the first time that the Gilda’s LaughFest has been responsible for a world record. Last year, the festival tossed 925 rubber chickens into the air to set a new record.

Detroit News reports that the animal nose-wearing record was set on Thursday night as 607 revelers gathered in Downtown Grand Rapids wearing chicken beaks. The record hasn’t been verified yet, but since there was no record to break (surprisingly no one has attempted to set an animal nose-wearing record) the people at Gilda’s Laugh Fest should be able to claim a new world record.

But it wasn’t easy. Organizers said that the record breakers stood outside in 30 degree temperatures for 11 minutes and 39 seconds in order to surpass the 10 minute animal nose-wearing requirement by Guinness.

Gilda’s LaughFest honors the memory of late comedian Gilda Radner. This year, Whoopi Goldberg, Martin Short, and Kevin Nealon will all be performing.

Michael Radner, Gilda’s brother, was on hand to witness the new world record. Michael said:

“It’s a wonderful legacy of my sister, and I’m so happy to be a part of it.”

Gilda’s LaughFest has only been around for two years and has already broken two world records. Detroit News reports that more than 50,000 people attended the fest in 2011 with all the proceeds going to support program for people with cancer through the Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids.
