Karen O Is Pregnant: Yeah Yeah Yeahs Singer Expecting First Child
Singer Karen O is reportedly expecting her first child.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer was able to announce her pregnancy to the rest of the world without saying a single word. Once she appeared at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony Saturday, her large baby bump essentially made the announcement for her.
According to a tweet posted to her official account, the 36-year-old rock singer attended the induction ceremony to perform as a way of paying tribute to inductee Lou Reed.
Karen O was apparently excited about the opportunity and posted messages about her opportunity to praise Lou Reed with a performance on Twitter and Instagram.

Karen Orzolek (Karen O) married filmmaker Barnaby Clay back in 2011. According to Us Weekly, Karen O opened up about her marriage to her then-boyfriend during a launch bash later the same year. The report states that the launch bash was specifically for Rocked: An Exclusive Photography Exhibition. Held at the W Hotel Downtown in New York City, the event was hosted by Mick Rock.
Before getting involved with Barnaby Clay, Karen O was romantically linked to such names as Angus Andrew, the lead singer of Liars, as well as Spike Jonze, the Oscar-winning screenwriter and film director.
In a January, 2015, interview with GQ, according to StereoGum, Karen Orzolek opened up about her new solo career and music in general. When asked if she could ever take a lengthy hiatus from the music business, Karen O expressed that she was not necessarily against the idea.
“Part of me is curious about what would happen if there wasn’t the obligation to release music into the public for a long time. I’ve had that pressure — once you start that conversation with an audience, one of the hardest things is to walk away.”
During the same interview, Karen O reflected on the life of John Lennon and the difficulties that he experienced after deciding to disappear from the public eye and focus on his family.
“I just read The Playboy Interviews With John Lennon And Yoko Ono… He’d disappeared from the public for about five years and basically became a househusband raising Sean. He talks about how it was the hardest thing he’s ever done, walking away from that conversation that we’re talking about. He needed constant reinforcement from Yoko against that nagging insecurity of ‘Who am I — what am I?’ But that five years really renewed his spirit for music, for art, for life. So that made me scratch my head like, ‘Hmm, what would it be like to do that?’ ”
Perhaps Karen O might consider a hiatus of her own when she welcomes her first child into the world later this year, joining the growing list of other celebrities that have become first-time mothers in 2015 so far.
