Kim Richards Arrested As Kyle Richards, Andy Cohen Break Silence: Sobriety Expert Advises She Leave ‘Real Housewives’

Kim Richards was arrested, but that doesn’t mean the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills reality TV star wants to hide in her house. Without even missing a day of the outside world, the former child star seemed determined to ignore shouts for an interview from photographers camped out by her home as she tried to return to the real world, reported ABC News.

Slouching beneath a baseball cap and hiding her eyes behind enormous sunglasses, Richards sauntered back into her version of reality after being arrested for trespassing, public intoxication, battery on a police officer, and resisting a police officer. The arrest came early Thursday morning when the 50-year-old former actress would not leave the Beverly Hills Hotel as asked.

As for the battery charges, a drunken Kim kicked an officer in the leg after swearing at the cops, according to Lt. Lincoln Hoshino, who works for the Beverly Hills police department.

Kim will make her court appearance to respond to the charges.

Her Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills pals tweeted their support.

“I feel badly for Kim Richards and her family,” posted Eileen Davidson. “My thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.”

“Real friends are their [sic] in the good times, the bad times & especially the worst times. I am blessed with real friends & am a real friend myself,” tweeted Brandi Glanville.

But Kim’s sister, Kyle Richards, had a different approach to discussing the former child star’s struggle to stay sober, reported Us Weekly.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion revealed every detail of the sisters’ battle, and Kyle said that the two remained estranged.

“Unfortunately nothing was resolved at the reunion,” admitted Kyle. “I’m sad that it has come to this.”

Andy Cohen, the mastermind behind the Real Housewives franchise and host/fighter-breaker-upper for the reunions, addressed the subject of Kim’s arrest, reported the Daily Mail.

“I reached out to Kyle and the family is obviously very concerned. I don’t know exactly what happened, but I’m thinking of her,” said Cohen. “I’m glad she wasn’t hurt, and I hope it leads to some peaceful resolution for her and her family.”

A Real Housewives fan posted speculation on social media that Andy enjoys seeing the Real Housewives have problems that receive media attention, to which Andy responded with a firm contradiction.

“I hate it, actually. I NEVER root against a RH. I only want the best for them.”

As the Inquisitr reported, Cohen has become famous for his ability to persuade everyone from Lady Gaga to Gwyneth Paltrow to open up and spill secrets, ranging from drug use to secret romances. Below, he explains why he considers himself both a producer and a fan.

But however much Andy may enjoy his role, Kim was adamant that she was not struggling with her sobriety during the recent reunion.

“Let’s get this straight real quick – I am not struggling with my sobriety, nor have I struggled with my sobriety. I am sober. I have been sober for three years. I don’t appreciate all the conversations that have been behind my back. And I do not have to defend myself any longer.”

Now a sobriety expert recommends that Kim Richards reconsider her desire to remain on Real Housewives, reported People.

“This is one of those moments when her painfully public problem can become a personally promising opportunity to turn her life around,” said William C. Moyers of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. “But only if she takes seriously the reality of what’s happened, by stepping away from the limelight and instead putting her attention on the help she needs and deserves to get better.”

Moyers urged both Bravo and Kim’s co-stars to help her exit gracefully from the spotlight.

“There is nothing funny or appealing about the reality of Kim’s situation. She owes it to herself to step away from the limelight to get help. Her costars and Bravo should encourage Kim to take the first step or next step to recover.”
