If NeNe Leakes has her way, Kenya Moore, Claudia Jordan, and Cynthia Bailey likely won’t be on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. On Friday evening, NeNe opened herself up to some of her fan’s questions via Twitter while she was waiting for a flight. One of her fans tweeted that all of the women on the cast should at least be from Atlanta. NeNe replied that she thinks that the women on the show should at least be from Georgia.
“AGREED or let’s just say say Georgia.”
It’s pretty clear that NeNe is agreeing with the viewer that Kenya and Claudia, two of her big enemies on the current season, shouldn’t be on the show since they’re not from the area. Kenya grew up in Detroit while Claudia grew up in Providence, Rhode Island. Viewers saw both Kenya and Claudia move into new residences in Atlanta at the beginning of their first seasons, prompting some to say that they’re in Atlanta just to be a housewife on the show.
NeNe may have also mentally included Cynthia in her tweet since Cynthia, although she had already been living in Atlanta for while when she was cast on the show, grew up in the state of Alabama. Cynthia then lived in New York City for more than two decades for her modeling career before moving to Atlanta.
In contrast, NeNe and her allies, Phaedra Parks and Porsha Williams, are all from Georgia. Phaedra and NeNe even went to the same high school in Athens, Georgia.
This isn’t the first time that NeNe Leakes has spoken out about who should and shouldn’t be on the show. In April 2014, NeNe, during her apperance on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live,” was asked about who she would fire from the show. NeNe responded that Cynthia Bailey, with whom she was no longer friends with, is just “OK” because “it’s not like she’s bringing anything to show.” Surprisingly, NeNe said that she would keep Kenya Moore because, while she doesn’t like her personally, at least Kenya “is good for the show.”
NeNe’s words prompted a fierce reaction from Cynthia. A few weeks later, Cynthia penned an open letter, posted on Uptown Magazine, that speculated that NeNe was punishing her for being friendly with Kenya and blasted NeNe for trying to get her fired.
“As I watched the show and listened to NeNe say I wasn’t good for the show or that I bring nothing to the table, at one point I felt angry. She was being completely spiteful and malevolent…She’d rather see me off the show than to work with me and give me pure hell next season…If I wasn’t relevant to the show, I wouldn’t be on the show. I absolutely believe I bring a certain amount of class and balance to the cast. There is not one single Housewife who is solely responsible for the success of the show. And the last time I checked, NeNe is talent on the show just like me. She does not make hiring and firing decisions. Ultimately, that’s left up to Bravo executives.”
As for the Season 8 cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, executive producer Andy Cohen has repeatedly said that Real Housewives cast decisions are not made until after the reunion show has aired. Will NeNe Leakes return for another season if Kenya Moore, Claudia Jordan, and Cynthia Bailey are still on the show? In response to a fan’s question asking about her fate on the show since she seems to be over the show, NeNe replied that she would “if certain people leave.”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, in response to a fan’s sentiment that her enemedies were trying to force her to quit the show, NeNe tweeted that she will always work for Bravo. NeNe Leakes will soon be filming a spin-off with former housewife Kim Zolciak, titled NeNe and Kim: The Road to Riches.
