Eddie Murphy’s Thoughts on The Oscars

It seems like every passing year, a Oscar host steps up to the challenge to host the Oscars and the very next day they’re lambasted for a lackluster hosting performance. This year’s was unique in the fact that Eddie Murphy dodged a bullet by ducking out of the ceremony months before.

However, we certainly all remember last year’s fiasco of James Franco and Anne Hathaway. Now even veteran Billy Crystal took a few hits with an overall underwhelming performance.

The first Oscar pick Eddie Murphy weighs in on Crystal’s performance and says things would have been even faster if he was in the driving seat, despite this year’s telecast being the shortest in years. The comedian told Extra that while he thought Crystal was “great” the ceremony as a whole would have been “a little quicker with me driving”.

For those who are still bummed out that Murphy ducked out of the gig, fear not, because the comedian has said he’ll consider the job again. “If they ask me again and it comes around, I’m totally open to do. It’s one of the few things that I haven’t done as a comedian. So, yeah, one day.”

Who would you like to see host the Oscars? Do you think it’s an impossible job to accomplish? Do you think Brett Ratner would have produced a better show with Eddie Murphy attached? Lastly, how do you think Billy Crystal did? Sound off here!
