Freida Pinto Opens Up About Her Split From Dev Patel

It’s been four months since Freida Pinto and Dev Patel split, but Pinto hasn’t opened up about the actual split like this before. The couple, who dated for six years, started off as friends in the film Slumdog Millionaire, and according to Pinto, even though they split they’re still friends.

Speaking with USA Today, Freida opened up about their relationship and where they stand now.

“Everybody has their own little discoveries to make. Their own surprises, their own disappointments, and they’re all part and parcel of life. There is no way one person can sit down and go, ‘But why did this happen to me?’ Or, ‘It was all going well, what the hell happened?’ Or, ‘No, this just can’t be,’ the denial of it.”

Although the break up was tough on both stars, Pinto had perspective on the relationship.

“Running away from it is not going to help you find your answers. So we’re facing it. And we’re dealing. And Dev and I are best friends. That’s never going to change.”

As the Inquisitr reported, Dev told E! while promoting his new film Chappie that they were still on friendly terms. He went on to call her “a wonderful human.” The actor told The Guardian about their relationship after their split.

“We are incredibly close. She’s just a really generous, patient human being who has been one of the most impactful people on my life. A lot of my motivation has come from her, from being with her and knowing her.”

Even though Dev was open to speaking about their relationship, and what Freida means to him, he was reluctant to go on about why they broke up. “No. I can’t, I’m sorry. I can’t say.”

Usually there’s a hint that a relationship was on the rocks before a split is publicly announced, but the private couple didn’t show any signs that they were separating. When they split a source told Us magazine, “They have been done for a while. Freida is single and happy. Friends are setting her up.”

As for Pinto she recently made the move from London to Los Angeles. Of her new home she said it’s, “a great place to be. You can stamp on it what you want to make of this place.”
