Tyra Banks chopped her locks into a pixie cut for a very special reason. The supermodel creator of America’s Next Top Model is set to host the Daytime Emmy Awards , reported People .
Expect the unexpected with Tyra steering the awards show ship.
“I’m really excited because I like to shake things up,” she admitted. “I think being silly is so fun.”
With that new pixie cut showing off her neck, Banks is banking on making a style statement as well as setting a fun tone for the event. It will start with a big bang for the opening number.
“I’m excited to attempt an intro where people go, ‘Has she lost her mind?’ and then for them to go, ‘You know, she did lose her mind, and I enjoyed every minute of that craziness.’ I wanted to do eight [looks] in two hours. But I just talked to my stylist, and she said I was crazy, so I think it is going to be six looks in two hours.”
To make sure that the world had time to get used to that pixie cut , Tyra unveiled it on Instagram, reported UPI .
“It’s about time,” she wrote for the caption. “Mom, I finally did it!”
As the Inquisitr reported, Jessica Alba also recently attracted attention by transforming her own flowing locks into a precious pixie cut bob. She communicated her style change succinctly.
“Uh oh someone chopped off her hair!”
But why did Tyra Banks chop her locks, and what does the reference to her mother mean? Banks explained that she decided it was time for the Tyra Banks Brand to shake it up in an interview with People .
“I come from the school of hardcore branding and if you are known for something keep that because that is what the public connects you with. I had long, golden hair as a high-fashion model, and a Victoria’s Secret model and a Sports Illustrated model, and that’s how people know me. But great brands tweak their logos and change up their formula, and I said it’s time for me to do that.”
Her mother is thrilled, revealed Tyra.
“My mom keeps talking about my neck,” laughed the supermodel. “She [mom] says, ‘They know you’ve got a neck now.’”
You can watch Tyra host the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards live on Pop on Sunday April 26 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The ceremony will honor more than 350 nominees in daytime television.
