Did Jill Dillard Have A C-Section? Healthy Duggar Grandbaby Israel Born In Hospital Not At Home

The Duggar family is continuing to grow as Jill Dillard welcomed baby Israel David on April 6. However, everything didn’t go as planned for the first-time mom who had planned for a home birth.

According to the Duggar Family Blog, Israel David Dillard was born at 11:49 p.m. on April 6 with Jill over one week past her due date. However, photos posted of Baby Israel show that instead of the planned home birth Jill had hoped for, it appears the newest Duggar baby was born in the hospital. Photos show proud father Derick Dillard sporting some scrubs standing near the baby in a hospital bassinet. Another photo shows Jill doting over the baby with an IV inserted into her arm.

The photos have led fans to speculate that Jill had the newest Duggar grandbaby via C-section. However, Jill has not confirmed the rumors. Instead, Jill told E! Online that things simply “didn’t go as planned” but that she has a happy, healthy little boy.

“Not everything went as expected. So we were reminded of the verse that the Bible talks about when ‘Man plans his way but the Lord directs his steps.’ We were encouraged by that. He’s just a handsome little fella and we’d like everybody to stay tuned to TLC. May fifth, they’re going to be showing the birth episode as well as things surrounding that.”

Though she did not specify exactly what didn’t go as planned, it seems the new mom was likely referencing the fact she was unable to have a home birth. Jill is training to become a certified midwife through distance learning courses and has delivered dozens of babies in home birth settings. However, as Jill is proof, sometimes birth does not go as planned for mothers. Despite not getting to have the home birth she wished for, everything seems to be going great for mom and baby.

Baby Israel clocked in at a healthy nine pounds 10 ounces and was 23 inches long. Derick noted on the Dillard Family Blog that everyone is healthy and that they are incredibly excited to be experiencing parenthood.

“He’s here! Israel David Dillard has made his arrival. He was born at 11:49pm on April 6, 2015. He weighed 9 lbs and 10 ounces and measured 23 inches long. We think he’s adorable! Mom and baby are both doing wonderful. We are so thankful for his safe arrival and look forward to this great new journey called Parenthood!”

The C-section rumors stem from the fact that Derick was wearing scrubs in one photo, which is not standard unless surgery becomes necessary. The IV in Jill’s arm also indicates that a C-section could have taken place. However, others are reporting that a C-section was not needed that Jill simply required her labor to be induced as she approached two weeks past her due date.

Fans will soon learn the truth about what took place during Jill’s birth as TLC plans to air a special features Jill’s labor on May 5.
