Bethenny Frankel has never been shy when it comes to talking about her weight, but the latest admission from the reality television star has some fans worried that she might be getting too skinny.
Frankel has been touring the promo circuit ahead of the return of her show, The Real Housewives of New York City and the release of her book, I Suck at Relationships So You Don’t Have To, and recently opened up about her famously thin figure.
In an interview with Savannah Guthrie of NBC’s Today show, Bethenny Frankel revealed her weight while talking about what people say about her appearance.
“People do comment a lot. Yeah, I am thin,” she said. “I mean, I have a brand called Skinnygirl, so it’s not a big giant mystery. You can’t please everybody. You try to please everybody you end up pleasing nobody.”
“Sometimes I do agree that I look too thin, especially when I’m tired, especially when I’m haggard. I do eat. There are nutritionists that comment that I don’t even weigh 100 lbs. I weigh 115 lbs. I’ll be happy to get on the Today show scale,” she told Guthrie with a laugh. “If you have one! Do you have a scale?”
The admission had many fans worried, with some taking to Twitter and Facebook to express worries about Frankel’s overall healthy.
But others noted that Frankel isn’t too skinny — at least not by medical standards.
“Wow. I thought she was underweight, but she’s NOT!” Shauna Boucher wrote on Facebook. “Her ideal body weight for her height of 5′, five and 3/4 inches is a range of 115.2 pounds to 140.66 pounds. Her “perfect” weight, from a dietician’s calculation, is 127.875.”
Another fan added on Frankel’s Facebook page, “If you’re happy and healthy, who cares what the scale says!? It is no one’s business.”
Bethenny Frankel’s weight is a big part of her identity. She has a brand called Skinny Girl and speaks frequently about her size, but has also opened up about her eating disorders and discontent with her body.
“Until my early 30s, I spent my entire life being obsessed with dieting,” Frankel admitted in 2011. “Bingeing and then fasting or starving. I used to forbid myself from everything. That’s how I used to be: up and down five pounds every single day, to the extremes.”
