House Legislators in Wyoming are preparing for the end of days or at least the end of the United States as we know it. Lawmakers in the state on Friday advanced a bill that would help protect the state from a nationwide political or economic meltdown.
According to the Casper Star-Tribune the legislative request would create a task force responsible for drafting a state-run political system that would include a statewide army, issuing state based currency and even the procurement of an aircraft carrier.
According to Rep. Lorraine Quarberg:
“I don’t think there’s anyone in this room today what would come up here and say that this country is in good shape, that the world is stable and in good shape.”
Republican Quarberg also says of the plan:
“To put your head in the sand and think … we have no obligation to the citizens of the state of Wyoming to at least have the discussion, is not healthy.”
This isn’t the first time Wyoming has worked towards such crisis management, the state already has a Department of Homeland Security to deal with issues of statewide concern however that department doesn’t cover talk of a completely collapsed nation.
At this point there’s still a lot of work to be done, the bill must pass through two more House votes and then pass through the Senate. Funding for the task force has already been cut from $32,000 to $16,000 in the last week.
Do you think planning for the end of America as we know is the equivalent of betting against America or has our governments choices left Maryland officials with no other choice?
