Manny Pacquiao Claims Ronda Rousey Could Destroy Floyd Mayweather Jr. In A MMA Fight

This year, there seems to be an argumentative separation between MMA and boxing, in which one sport thinks they are better than the other. Apparently, the one MMA fighter in the midst of said argument is the undefeated UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, it seems Rousey can take on anyone in competitive fighting sports, in and outside of MMA. One such case was the heat between Rousey and Laila Ali in which the latter insists she would beat Rousey despite refusing to prove so.

However, when the subject of Ronda Rousey taking on men in UFC came up, it segued into boxing, and people weighed in on Rousey fighting male boxers like Mike Tyson (in which Tyson said Ronda would beat him up). This somehow brought up if Rousey would be able to beat Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. in a fight. Dana White, the president of UFC, says Mayweather would get badly hurt. However, Mayweather’s upcoming opponent, Manny Pacquiao, said straight-up that Rousey would beat Mayweather in an MMA fight.

According to Fox Sports, Manny Pacquiao made an appearance on His & Hers in which he talked about his upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Eventually, the question came up if Ronda Rousey could beat Mayweather in a full MMA fight in which Pacquiao responded the following.

“I believe so. She’s strong. She’s strong enough to beat Floyd Mayweather in MMA.”

Now to be fair, Manny Pacquiao could be biased in his statement, taking into account he will be fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2. Still, the fact that Rousey is now a force to be reckoned with in UFC, along with her stardom in Hollywood, is enough to cause people — Pacquaio included — to place her in hypothetical matches against other top athletes. This is most like a tactic to entice fans if not just stoke the fires of sports gossip.

Unfortunately, a spokesperson for Floyd Mayweather Jr. was not available to comment on Manny Pacquaio’s words, as reported by the Huffington Post. If he or she were, it would be probable to call Pacquaio’s statement biased, given that he and Ronda Rousey are friends. As a matter of fact, Pacquiao offered Rousey a free ticket to his fight against Mayweather. This is surely a strong gesture of friendship since Rousey really wanted to see Pacquaio fight and was willing to use her championship payout to do so.
