Powerball Winning Numbers March 28: The Lottery’s Newest Multi-Millionaire Could Be You

Do you have the winning Powerball numbers for Saturday night’s drawing? The $40 million jackpot will make someone an instant multi-millionaire if they match all six numbers drawn on March 28. See the winning numbers below.

One lucky ticket holder won the last jackpot drawn on March 25, with Philly.com reporting that the winning ticket was sold at Rocklins Stationers in Teaneck, New Jersey. The person who picked the numbers 7, 19, 23, 50, 54 and the Powerball of 14 will walk away with an estimated $40 million for the annuity payment, or $26.8 million in cash (before taxes) when they come forward to claim the ticket.

The Powerball results for March 28 are: 2, 4, 6, 12, 38 and PB 17

The drawing on Wednesday was the second week in a row that the jackpot was won by a single ticket holder. According to the Multi State Lottery Association, one person in Tennessee won the $50 million Powerball jackpot on March 21. The numbers drawn were 11,16, 30, 38, 42 and the Powerball was 7.

It’s been weeks since the grand prize has risen above the $40-50 million mark. The biggest Powerball jackpot given away in March was $136 million, with MLive reporting that it was sold in New York. Previous to that, the most talked-about jackpot in recent months is the $564 million jackpot that was split between three ticket holders on February 11.

If you haven’t purchased a $2 Powerball ticket for tonight’s drawing yet, it may be too late. Lottery retailers close ticket sales approximately one hour prior to the 11 p.m. drawings that take place on both Wednesday and Saturday nights.

The Powerball results will be announced at 11 p.m. ET on these local TV channels, and will also be posted here shortly after the drawing.

Odds of winning Saturday night’s $40 million jackpot are 1 in 175 million, so don’t quit your job until you’re absolutely certain you have won. Keep in mind, the payout isn’t $40 million in a lump sum, so you may not want to leave your job at all. If there is a winner, that person would have a choice of a $40 million annuity split over 30 years (before taxes), or a lump sum payout of approximately $26.8 million before taxes.

According to US Mega, if the winner chooses the annuity, the yearly check (30 payments) will be in the amount of approximately $1 million each after 25 percent federal taxes are taken out.

Prefer a lump sum check? After Uncle Sam takes his share, the winner of the $40 million Powerball jackpot would take home approximately $20.1 million. Not a bad pay day, but is it enough to leave your job? Consult a financial advisor to make sure the winnings will allow you to live comfortably for the rest of your life.
