‘Transformers 5’ News: Paramount To Split Sequel Into Two Films, Planning Spinoffs

The latest Transformers 5 news could be a shock to some, and possibly make others give up on it entirely. Even though Michael Bay is stepping down and possibly making way for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot director, the series is about to do something that’s becoming a growing trend with sequels.

We can probably thank the Harry Potter series for this one, because Transformers 5 is going to become a two-part sequel. Technically, TF6 will actually be TF5, Part 2.

If that isn’t enough to wrap your mind around, Paramount Pictures has announced plans to branch the Transformers series off into spinoff films, much like the X-Men series. This way, we might get a lot more than two more movies in the series, and it might end up taking up as much shelf space as the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While in previous Transformers 5 news, we found out that Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson are being added to the case, there are additional rumors that Megan Fox could be returning due to fan expectations and the lack of Michael Bay in the director’s chair. This could be difficult to pull off if she’s planning to also reprise her role as April O’Neil in TMNT 2, but even a cameo would be a nod to the first two movies.

The Transformers 5 story seems to be leading up to a confrontation between Optimus Prime and the Quintessons (the creators), and possibly an ultimate showdown with the planet-devouring Unicron. That may be the reason behind the split sequel, as there may be too much of a story for one film.

The Transformers 5 cast appears to also include the return of Mark Wahlberg and Nicola Peltz from Age of Extinction, since Wahlberg told the press that he’s signed on for two more movies.

Alongside new robots Override, Red Alert, Ultra Magnus, Scourge, Blitzwing, and Cyclonus having been added to the roster, this is a rather unexpected turn for the Transformers 5 news.

For the spinoffs, we might see something about Beast Wars or possibly the further adventures of the dinobots, or perhaps more films featuring combiners like Devastator. A movie about Starscream coming back and creating Bruticus to help him maintain his own rule over the Decepticons would be interesting if they can get a good story behind it.
