WWE News: Daniel Bryan Concerned About His Neck Heading Into WrestleMania, But Still Plans To Steal The Show

Daniel Bryan is a little under one year removed from undergoing neck surgery, and for the first time since his return, he has expressed a bit of concern as to how it’s going to hold up during the high-risk ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship at this Sunday’s WrestleMania.

Several months after Bryan underwent neck surgery, there were some people — including Daniel Bryan himself at certain points — who thought that he may be forced to retire. WWE even teased that Bryan may retire before he announced that he would be entering the 2015 Royal Rumble on the last RAW of 2014.

In an interview with WWE play-by-play man Michael Cole, Daniel Bryan expressed his concern about his neck heading into WrestleMania, and how he plans to mentally prepare for what should be a show-stealing match.

“There’s an air of unpredictability any time you’re involved in ladder matches, especially with so many people, I mean, there’s going to be seven of the hungriest WWE superstars all fighting for this Intercontinental Championship, and I’m not going to lie, I’m a little bit concerned. This whole time since I’ve come back, my neck has been a question mark, and every week I feel a little bit better about it. This is putting me in a situation that I haven’t been in since I had this surgery. But, whatever happens, happens, and you just have to go out there and fight your heart out.”

There was a little bit of uncertainty surrounding Daniel Bryan’s WrestleMania spot after it became apparent that WWE wasn’t going to put him in the main-event of WrestleMania for the second year in a row. Some fans are a little disappointed that Bryan isn’t in more of a featured spot, but he’s in a match that could very well end up being the highlight of the show if everything goes right.

The Intercontinental Championship is the only title that Daniel Bryan hasn’t held during his time in WWE. In interviews leading up to him winning the World Heavyweight Championship, he always said that he never expected to be World Champion, and that his goal when he first broke into the wrestling business was to win the Intercontinental Championship, because that was his favorite title when he was growing up.

Most people are expecting Daniel Bryan to walk out of WrestleMania as the new Intercontinental Champion, and are hoping that he can bring the title back to the level it used to be at twenty-something years ago, and Bryan would love nothing more than to do just that.
