Darrell Best: DC Police Officer, Pastor Accused Of Raping Teen Girls At Church And Police Headquarters
Darrell Best, a Washington D.C. police officer, is currently being investigated for allegedly raping two teenage girls. According to New York Daily News, the 45-year-old, who also serves as a youth minister at God of the Second Chance Ministry Church, is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl and another female, now 18.
The 16-year-old was reportedly sexually assaulted by Best on three different occasions. The encounters reportedly took place at the church. Rolling Out reports the 16-year-old was asked to leave choir rehearsal for sexual purposes. Her father recently spoke out about his verbal confrontation with Best. The father, whose name has not been released, reportedly stated that Best did not deny the accusations.
“I asked this man did you put your hands on my daughter? Did you penetrate my daughter? Did you have sex with my daughter? He did not deny. I’m expecting him to say no, no… he didn’t,” the father said.
Another incident involving a different female has also been reported. At the time, the girl was 17-years-old. Best reportedly became her mentor when she expressed career interest in law enforcement. She admitted she initially had no problems with him until one night when they had dinner together alone. That’s when she noticed a distinct change in his demeanor. She revealed that he asked for “erotic pictures of her body.” Then, in December of 2014, she was driven to a police headquarters in an unmarked patrol vehicle where she was allegedly raped.
“I told him ‘No’ on multiple occasions, plenty of times. And he just sweet talked and just let it be and just conniving,” she said. “And he was armed and I didn’t know what he could’ve had up his sleeve so I didn’t know.”
Both females stated that their encounters with Best occurred between December, 2014 and February, 2015. However, this isn’t the first time Best has been accused of inappropriate conduct. In another report, Fox DC revealed Best was demoted back in 2008 following allegations of sexual harassment toward females within the police department.
Valarie Eason, a retired female officer, recently shared details about her awkward encounters with Best. She explained how she initially refused to report his actions because she did not want to hurt her career. Eason stated that Best often considered himself “untouchable” as a superior so reporting the allegations would have seemed like an uphill battle. Now that she’s retired, she feels more comfortable speaking out about the encounters in an effort to help females currently employed with the police department.
