World’s Highest Paid Supermodel Gisele Bündchen Is Quitting — Why?

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen is slated to take her final walk on the ramp during the Sao Paulo Fashion Week which will run from April 13 to 17 this year.

According to her sister and official representative Patricia Bundchen, Gisele is shifting her focus towards special projects and in spending more time with her family.

“She is already cutting back on catwalk appearances and will bid adieu to shows in her own country during the Colcci brand presentation at Sao Paulo Fashion Week.”

This is supported by Gisele’s statement in one of her recent interviews. She said that she wanted to spend more time with her family who are based in the United States. The supermodel is married to New England Patriots star Tom Brady and is a mother of two.

The supermodel has already expressed her gratitude to her loyal fans via social media. In her personal account in Instagram, Gisele uploaded a photo of herself on the beach, jumping in a white bikini number over a big heart scrawled on the sand. Written inside the heart is the word “grateful,” which corresponds with the photo’s caption. On the caption, the grateful supermodel wrote: “… Thank you for all the love. A kiss in your heart and have a beautiful day.”

Meanwhile, SPFW event director Paulo Borges felt honored that the supermodel chose their event to conclude her reign in the catwalk industry. “Gisele appeared at the first edition of SPFW 20 years ago and it is an honor for us that she has chosen the same event to call it a day,” he said.

He also commended Gisele for her success. Borges added, “We are also very happy to see a Brazilian professional come such a long way with an extensive and respected career.”

Despite her German descent, Gisele was born in Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. She started off her modelling career at the tender age of 14 and since then has modeled for various big brands in the fashion industry such as Chanel, Valentino, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Alexander Wang, Balenciaga and Carolina Herrera. She was also a Victoria’s Secret “angel” for several times.

The supermodel is named by Forbes as the world’s highest earning model for the past eight years. She has been reported to have earned a total of $47 million last year.
