Clinically Dead Baby Miraculously Came Back To Life After Mother Held Him

After trying to get pregnant for three years, this Australian couple was overjoyed to learn they were having twins. Then the unimaginable happened: one of their little babies was clinically dead, but a quick thinking mom miraculously brought him back to life.

Kate and David Ogg had been trying to conceive for years and it finally happened. She was expecting and it was twins. The Oggs were over the moon and preparing themselves for their little bundles.

However, at 26-weeks, mom was told she was going into labor early and Kate was scared to death. What follows can only be described as a real life miracle.

When the babies were born, there was a bit of confusion as to the sex of the little ones because of the early stage of development, according to Kate. The staff said the Oggs had two boys, then they changed it to a boy and a girl and she realized the mood in the room was quiet.

“The doctor attendant asked, ‘Have you chosen a name for your son?’ ” Kate recalls, “We said yes, his name is Jamie and he just sat on the edge of the bed and said Jamie didn’t make it. We’ve lost him.”

The couple couldn’t believe what they were hearing and David collapsed on the bed, next to Kate. The doctors declared the baby was clinically dead, but mom grabbed the little boy from the doctor, unwrapped him and pulled him to her body.

“I ordered David to take his clothes off and get into bed with me because I wanted as much body heat around this baby as possible. He was cold and I wanted him to be warm and alive.” Kate says, choking back tears. “I put his skin against my skin and I just held him, close to my heart, so he would be able to hear my heartbeat.”

A moving photo shows both, devastated parents holding on to what the doctors have called a clinically dead baby, crying for a long time. They talked to him and told him he had a twin sister, who needed him to look after her and told him of their big plans for him.

This is when the heartbreak turned into a miracle. All of a sudden, Jamie started to stir leaving Kate and David utterly shocked, not understanding what was happening. The midwives came back into the room answering their excited call, but they were told their baby was clinically dead and they had to say goodbye.

Unexpectedly, Jamie opened his eyes and held on to his daddy’s finger with a strong grip. The Oggs were overjoyed.

Today, the once clinically dead baby is almost five and has made his parents incredibly happy. Despite doctors insisting he would have brain damage, Jamie has proven them wrong and is perfectly normal.

“We feel so fortunate,” David Ogg added. “We’re the luckiest people in the world.”

Partly because of the Oggs story and other similar ones from around the world, researchers are now studying how skin to skin with premature babies can be more effective than treatments provided by hospitals. Even though the focus is on the mother’s touch, fathers are also involved in the research.
