In addition to seeing the launch of the series’ debut on current-gen consoles with Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, fans of the popular loot-based franchise will also be getting a new DLC and major gameplay additions for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel later this month. The official website for Gearbox Software, the studio that created the co-op FPS series, announced over the weekend that the new content for The Pre-Sequel will be heading to all platforms on March 24.
In the next DLC, titled “Claptastic Voyage,” Borderlands fans will literally see inside the mind of Claptrap. After discovering that there is something powerful locked away in the memory of Borderlands’ most well-known robot, Handsome Jack creates digital versions of the vault hunters from Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel so that they can be inserted inside Claptrap’s mind.
Since the DLC will take place inside the head of a robot, players can expect to experience strange and bizarre new objectives even by Borderlands standards. Gearbox Software claims that the add-on will reveal the inner-workings of Claptrap’s thoughts, such as explaining the reasons behind his love for dubstep.
“In Claptastic Voyage, Handsome Jack has found something ludicrously powerful within Claptrap’s mind. Never one to turn down a chance at more power, Handsome Jack digitizes the vault hunters and sends them inside! Their goal is simple: find the mysterious “H-Source” code and get out of Claptrap’s consciousness without going completely insane.”
Launching alongside the “Claptastic Voyage,” the DLC will also include the Ultimate Upgrade Pack 2 for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Like the first upgrade pack, this will further increase the game’s level cap, allowing fans to gain another 10 levels. When Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel launched last year, the maximum level that player could achieve as 50. However, those who have both of the Ultimate Upgrade Packs after the second one releases later this month will be able to continuing gaining new skill points to the new level cap of 70.
“The Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 is included as bonus content in the last add-on pack in the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Season Pass, which raises the level cap to 70, giving each of your characters 10 new levels, plus 10 new skill points to earn!”
A Game Informer report points out that Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’s fourth DLC is set to launch on the same day as The Handsome Collection releases on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. As the Inquisitrpreviously reported, the bundle brings both Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel to current-gen platforms for the first time.
