Emma Watson Confirms Dan Stevens, Luke Evans Casting In ‘Beauty And The Beast’

Emma Watson (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) confirmed the casting of Dan Stevens (The Guest) and Luke Evans (Dracula Untold, The Hobbit) in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast live action movie with a tweet.

The former Harry Potter star warmly welcomed her new co-stars, eliciting an immediate response from both Stevens and Evans in subsequent tweets. The two British actors are avid social media users and so we can expect updates as things move along with this production.

To say that fans are extremely excited about Dan Stevens and Luke Evans’ casting for Beauty and the Beast would be the understatement of the year. Twitter is full of posts about how great the Disney movie will be with this all British cast.

The film will be based on the classic children’s tale of the same name, which tells of the cursed prince (Dan Stevens) and the beautiful young woman, Belle (Emma Watson) who is the only one who can help him break the spell with her love. Gaston LeGume, played by Luke Evans will be the main villain, who will try to interfere with the couple’s blossoming relationship.

“He’s handsome, all right, and rude and conceited! Oh, Papa, he’s not for me,” Belle tells her father of Gaston.

Gaston is described as a narcissist who is strong and handsome and very aware of this. Of course, the self-absorbed Frenchman is obsessed with Belle.

While Gaston is trying unsuccessfully to woo Belle, Beast is slowly falling for her because of her patience and sweet, but strong personality. This is Emma Waston’s character description on Disney Wikia.

“She is very confident and outspoken in her opinions, and seldom likes being told what to do. Despite all this, she does not have very many friends due to her smarts and being a free thinker. (She) is able to look past how people appear and into their hearts. This is how Belle managed to break the Beast’s enchantment, and restore love and laughter to the castle.”

The temperamental Beast (Dan Stevens) is irritable, impatient and spoiled as shown by how frustrated he gets when things don’t go his way. In truth, behind the monstrous exterior, Emma Watson will find Dan Stevens to be a handsome, sweet man who is hopelessly in love with her.
