New Kanye West Video For ‘All Day’ Directed By Steve McQueen

After recently announcing the title of his latest album, Kanye West gave a private talk at Oxford University in which he spoke about the video for his new single, “All Day,” which was directed by 12 Years A Slave director, Steve McQueen, Rolling Stone can confirm.

I was sitting with Steve McQueen; he shot the visuals for “All Day” two days ago. It’s completely different to the Brit Awards.

The single, in which Kanye says the N-word 45 times will be appearing on the new album. According to a user on Reddit, this equates to around one utterance of the word ever 6.91 seconds. A report from The Independent says that the rapper invited along some guest vocalists to perform on the album, including a whistling segment from Paul McCartney.

Speaking to television presenter, Zane Lowe, Kanye said that working with Steve McQueen was both hard work and fun, saying the new album was a, “beauty of the struggle.”

It’s fun to work hard. We’re being inventive…The College Dropout came out of a fight to rap. This new album is coming out of a fight to design.

As well as discussing working with Steve McQueen on the video, Kanye also dropped a few other topics to the students who attended the talk. One subject West touched upon was classism in the fashion industry, something he had spoken about in recent interviews.

Clothing should be like food. There should never be a $5,000 sweater…You know what should cost $5,000? A car.

Students at Oxford University were treated to the talk on Sunday. At £4 per ticket (approximately $6), the venue was expected to seat around 5,000 people, but only 350 were permitted into the lecture hall. Kanye also requested that all students turn off their mobile phones in order to keep the talk more private.

West also told an anecdote in which he and McQueen discussed the film The Matrix and supposedly compared it to the Bible, but insisted he didn’t want the comparison to be taken out of context, adding, “what I said was The Matrix is like the Bible of the post-information age.”

The album, titled So Help Me God, has no release date as of yet, but as of February, Kanye West has said that it is around 80 percent finished. Tell us your thoughts on the famous director and actor Steve McQueen being involved in this latest Kanye West project.
