Body Parts Found In Search For Becky Watts

Body parts have been unearthed in the search for missing Bristol, UK teen Rebecca Watts. This tragic development comes on the heels of reports revealing that a young couple have been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and murder in Becky’s case. Sky News reports that an official identification hasn’t been made, but authorities have already notified the teen’s family of the gruesome discovery.

The loved ones of the missing teen have expressed that they are devastated by the discovery of human body parts in the search for the missing 16-year-old girl. Detective Superintendent Mike Courtiour with the Avon and Somerset Police Force briefly addressed the macabre discovery while giving the public an update on Rebecca’s case.

“As a result of new information received late last night, we attended a house at Barton Court in the Barton Hill area of Bristol. The information suggested that Becky’s body had been cut up and a search at the new location resulted in the discovery of body parts.”

A 28-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman — a couple — have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection to Becky’s disappearance. This comes after they had already been arrested on kidnapping charges. The Mirror reports that five more people have been arrested in connection to the disappearance and murder of Becky Watts. However, officials appear to be mostly focused on the young couple that had initially been arrested. Authorities have still not confirmed whether or not the garden that was recently dug-up has anything to do with the recent discovery.

While authorities haven’t revealed many details about this young couple, it should be noted that this is not the first time the UK has had to deal with killings committed by romantic couples. Back in the 1960s Ian Brady and Myra Hindley went on a murder spree that claimed the lives of five young victims. Their depraved crimes included sexual assault, torture, and dismemberment before they’d bury the bodies of their victims out on The Moors. Also, between the 1970s and the late 1980s, married couple Fred and Rosemary West claimed the lives of 10 young women — including at least one of their own daughters. They also sexually assaulted, tortured, and dismembered girls before burying their body parts in their own yard.

Becky Watts went missing last month on her brother’s birthday and immediately dropped out of contact with her friends and loved ones, which triggered instant concern. The disappearance has been described as not fitting her character, which led her family to fear the worst. Those feelings were only amplified after the arrests of two people. Now that body parts have been found in the search for the missing teen, their fears are being confirmed.
