Greg Kelly, NYC Police Commisioner’s Son, Accused of Rape

Greg Kelly, the co-host of New York weekday morning news show Good Day New York and son of the NYC police commissioner Ray Kelly, has been charged with attempting to rape a woman he met at bar.

According to the NY Daily, Greg met the woman, a 30-year-old paralegal, at the South Street Seaport on Oct. 8 for drinks. The pair reportedly then went back to the accusers office, and it is there where the assault is alleged to have occurred.

The alleged victim’s boyfriend says, she has been “an emotional cripple” since the alleged rape took place.

“The boyfriend was outraged and out of his mind when he realized what had happened,” a unnamed source told ABC. “He went and picked her up from the office where she was distraught, and he said later that the rape had taken place there.”

Due to the position of Greg Kelly’s father, the case is being investigated by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office rather than police.

Greg Kelly has strongly denied the charges the Associated Press reported.

His lawyer, Andrew M. Lankler, released a statement on Wednesday evening.

“Mr. Kelly is aware that the New York County District Attorney’s office is conducting an investigation,” the statement said. “Mr. Kelly strenuously denies any wrongdoing of any kind, and is cooperating fully with the district attorney’s investigation. We know the district attorney’s investigation will prove Mr. Kelly’s innocence.”

Greg joined Fox News Channel in 2002 and was the White House correspondent from 2005 to 2007. A Marine Corps veteran and lieutenant colonel in the reserves, he also covered the Iraq War – including four assignments in Baghdad – and the September 11 terror attacks.
