Oscars 2015: Melanie Griffith Won’t Watch Daughter Dakota Johnson In ’50 Shades’ — Awkward Red Carpet Interview

The Oscars 2015 saw the stars out in their best for the red carpet arrivals, and, of course, the interviews being conducted. At one point, Lara Spencer had time to talk to Dakota Johnson of 50 Shades of Grey and her mother, Melanie Griffith. And things didn’t go quite as expected.

While mother and daughter both looked great as Just Jared showed, the interview got a bit awkward.

Spencer first welcomed them to the Oscars and then got to the elephant in the room which was Griffith’s daughter in the sexually-charged 50 Shades of Grey. That was there things took a bit of a turn.

When asked if Griffith had seen the film, she appeared to be really awkward.

“No…no..no.”

When asked if she wanted to see it or not, she once again answered with awkwardness as her daughter just stared on.

“I don’t think I can. I think it would be strange.”

Johnson then took over and tried to save the Oscar red carpet interview.

“No, I think it will be fine. I think that one day you can see it. I think so.”

Even after Lara Spencer said that Johnson was really good in the movie and she should be proud of her, Griffith still was defiant in her stance. She just won’t be seeing her daughter’s role in 50 Shades of Grey.

“Well, she’s a really good actress. I don’t need to see that to know how good she is, you know?”

Johnson then got really frustrated with her mother and blurted out.

“Alright! You don’t have to see it! Jesus…God!”

Griffith tried to laugh it off and move on with the interview, but it was obvious that things had already taken a turn for the worst. Johnson was overly annoyed with her mother and tried to brush off her mother’s attempts to make it up to her.

From there, Johnson was asked what’s next for her beyond 50 Shades of Grey even though a couple of sequels are reportedly in the works. It was clear by the interview’s tone that she was at a loss.

“Ummm…I don’t know…I have a couple of films coming out this year. I don’t know when…but at some point. I’m busy.”

Inside Track reported just a day ago that Johnson would be attending the Oscars with her mom, and now she may be rethinking that for next year.

After the interview, it was clear that Melanie Griffith was not thrilled with her daughter Dakota Johnson’s role in 50 Shades of Grey. She may have to get used to more awkward interviews like that at the 2015 Oscars as two more films are already planned for the franchise.
