EA adding 11 publishers to Origin, starts with Trion Worlds’ Rift

EA’s Origin digital library is about to get even bigger, as the publisher announced today that 11 new publishers have signed on to add their titles to EA’s digital distribution service.

Over the next couple of months, titles from the likes of CD PROJEKT RED, Freebird Games, Recoil Games, Robot Entertainment, Autumn Games, 1C Company, inXile entertainment, Paradox Interactive, Core Learning Ltd. and N3V Games will be added to the service.

“Origin is focused on providing choice to consumers and the games they play,” said Craig Rechenmacher, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for Origin at EA. “From blockbuster franchises to high-quality independent titles, we’re bringing the industry’s best content to one place. We’re excited to welcome new partners and a diverse new line-up of titles to Origin today.”

The first new third-party title to be added will be Trion Worlds’ MMO Rift, which is available for purchase through Origin right now. EA isn’t saying just when we can expect more titles to appear on Origin, nor do we know what they’ll be, but EA says that more games from the aforementioned publishers are on the way “soon”.

This isn’t the first time that EA has opened Origin’s doors to other third-party publishers, as you may recall. Towards the end of last year, EA added titles from Capcom and THQ’s libraries and promised that titles from even more publishers are on the way.
