‘Glee’ Series Finale: Jonathan Groff Is Back As Jesse St. James

It’s almost time to say goodbye to Glee for good. Usually with a series finale, you can expect to see some familiar faces make one last appearance before the final fade to black, and the Fox series is going to be no different. While Jonathan Groff hasn’t guest starred as Jesse St. James since Season 3, he will be back for the last episode.

This news first broke when Lea Michele posted a photo on Twitter of her and Groff from the set of Glee‘s final season, and the caption suggested that he could be returning as his character.

“A very special day at #Glee today! Only 3 more days left! And look who stopped by! #JGroff #JesseStJames”

E! News confirmed with a source that Groff will be appearing in the season finale, but “details are being kept under wraps” about just how he will be returning.

Jesse St. James was last seen on screen in Season 3 as Vocal Adrenaline’s coach. Mr. Schuester just quit, leaving that job open (and what would Jesse think of how he did as coach?), but anything could bring him back. Maybe he and Rachel run into each other in New York. Maybe there’s going to be another love triangle, this time with Jesse/Rachel/Sam instead of Jesse/Rachel/Finn.

Also coming up on Glee, Sue’s not looking too happy in the photos from the March 6 episode that TVLine has posted. What’s bringing her down? Is it, like TVLine suggests, that she has lost the war against the arts at McKinley? The episode is titled “The Rise and Fall of Sue Sylvester,” and in one of the photos, she appears to be burning pom-poms.

Back to happier news, as the Inquisitr previously reported, Jennifer Coolidge and Ken Jeong play Brittany’s parents in Glee‘s final season, and they’re back for Brittany and Santana’s wedding. Fox has posted a behind-the-scenes video from the wedding of the two of them talking about their characters, the wedding, and more. Some time is spent discussing whether or not she can lift him over her head – and if they have time to show just that before being called back to set.

A second video from Fox shows Coolidge and Jeong discussing a couple of ways their characters could have met. They met on the subway. She bought blinds from him. They really expanded on that second possibility, with Jeong even coming up with a proposal.

Glee‘s final season airs Fridays at 9 p.m. on Fox.
