Gary Busey Accidentally Hits Woman With His Car While Backing Up [Video]

According to TMZ, actor Gary Busey was involved in a car accident in Malibu, California.

Law enforcement officials told the gossip site that Busey was attempting to get out of a parking spot at Pavilions grocery store when he accidentally struck a pedestrian who was walking behind his vehicle.

The woman, who is reportedly elderly, had her back to Gary Busey’s vehicle and did not see him backing up. It’s believed that Busey didn’t see her as he was attempting to exit the space. The woman was knocked to the ground, but apparently only suffered minor injuries. She was able to leave the scene of her own free will after being treated.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to treat the victim and left shortly afterward.

TMZ was able to provide video footage of the aftermath of the scene, which included the dazed actor. They posted the video of Busey and law enforcement officials to their website.

As for Gary Busey, both he and the woman pedestrian are very lucky. It’s all too common for persons to suffer fatal injuries because a pedestrian is in a driver’s blind spot or the driver simply attempts to back up without carefully checking to see if there is someone walking behind their car. Busey will no doubt look back more carefully in the future. Hopefully, pedestrians will also learn something from this woman’s scary encounter.

Never assume a driver, Gary Busey or whoever is behind the wheel, sees you. If you are walking through a parking lot, pay close attention to what other vehicles are doing. Never assume that the driver can see you: You may not find yourself as lucky as Gary Busey or the unnamed woman victim.

Speaking of Busey, the reality television staple had previously featured on the U.K. version of Big Brother, coming away the winner of the most recent season.

Known for his eccentric behavior, Gary Busey has enjoyed some resurgence in popularity thanks to appearances in commercials and on truTV’s World’s Dumbest series.

The Gary Busey accident, although minor, was quickly compared to the Bruce Jenner accident that occurred nearly a week ago. As reported on the Inquisitr, Jenner was involved in a fatal car wreck, which resulted in one woman’s death.

As of now, that crash is still being investigated, and media gossip sites continue to speculate as to whether or not the former Olympian is to blame for the horrible car crash.
