In Houston, Texas, a mother is dead and her daughter is fighting for her life inside a Texas hospital. KHOU is reporting that both women were shot outside the Macy’s clothing store at Willowbrook Mall.
Details are sketchy, but Houston police say a security guard heard shots ring out in front of Macy’s. As he ran to find out where the shots had originated, he noticed two women inside of a Toyota Tundra with gunshot wounds to the head. One woman, a mother, died inside the truck. Her adult daughter, who was barely clinging to life, was transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.
Police have very little information regarding the shooting. As of today, no one has come forward with information about the assailant. It is unclear if the women shot each other, if the shooting was an accident, or if the shooting was an intentional homicide. The victims’ identities have not been released to the public, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Several days ago, another Macy’s shooting occurred in Pennsylvania. In that shooting, Tarod Thornhill, a 17-year-old teen, was arrested and charged with shooting three people inside the Macy’s Mens Department. In January, a fatal shooting also occurred in Florida at the Melbourne Square Mall, where 57-year old Jose Garcia-Rodriquez shot his wife and killed another person. Police say Rodriguez shot his wife due to marital difficulties.
Texas law enforcement officials are asking for anyone with information about the Willowbrook Mall shooting to come forward by calling Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS or the Houston Police Department at 713-308-3600.
Update: Police have arrested a person of interest in the case of the Macy’s Willowbrook Mall shooting in Houston. According to The Houston Chronicle, police are questioning Dante Thomas, a man who was out on bond for the murder of his girlfriend just weeks ago. In that case, Linda Vu was stabbed to death in her Texas apartment as her children watched, as Inquisitr previously reported. Thomas was arrested and released on bond. But with his current possible involvement in another death case, that bond has been revoked.
