Is Amanda Knox Rushing For Marriage In Case Of Extradition?
Convicted killer Amanda Knox is reportedly engaged to be married to a 27-year-old musician named Colin Sutherland. Fox 13 News out of Seattle reports that the two have known each other since middle school, but have only recently started dating — as Knox had previously dated a guitarist named James Terrano. In fact, Knox and Terrano had only just ended their long running relationship late in 2014. No wedding date is set for the Seattle woman and her betrothed, but it should be noted that she faces a possible extradition in as soon as a month.
The Huffington Post reports that it took 12 hours of deliberation for the appeals court in Florance, Italy, to uphold the guilty verdict in her case. During this grueling amount of time, it was decided that there was adequate evidence to prove that Amanda Knox, Raffaele Sollecito, and Rudy Guede — all three — participated in the murder of Meredith Kercher. Knox is hoping that in March she will be given an appeal, but the court may decide to uphold the conviction again, sealing her fate as a convicted murderer. Italy may then request that the U.S. extradite Knox so that she can serve her sentence — 30 years in prison.
The idea of Knox being extradited from the U.S. back to Italy has been met with a variety of responses. Some people don’t think the U.S. would dare extradite the Seattle woman, believing that she is the victim of double jeopardy. Knox herself has publicly declared that she’d never go back to Italy willingly, and that she’d become a fugitive of the law if her extradition is requested. Knox has already spent four years of her original sentence in prison, which was later appealed. However, the Italian High Court does not recognize her appeal, as it has been dissolved.
