Aaron Hernandez’s Fiancée Given Immunity, Prosecutors Want Her Testimony

The fiancee of Aaron Hernandez could now be ready to testify in court, especially since she has been granted immunity.

Radar Online reported on Tuesday that Shayanna Jenkins was granted immunity by the judge.

The 25-year-old woman is also listed among the people that prosecutors want to testify in the courtroom for the former New England Patriots player’s murder trial.

According to Radar, prosecutors want to be able to question Shayanna about the conversations that she had with Aaron Hernandez the morning after Odin Lloyd’s body.

The corpse was discovered on June 17, 2013, at a construction site located near the North Attleboro, Massachusetts, home shared by Aaron Hernandez, Shayanna Jenkins, and their daughter.

Shayanna’s sister, Shaneah, testified in court last week. Shaneah, who was Odin’s girlfriend at the time, confirmed in court that she saw Shayanna have a series of short phone calls that morning. She also testified that her sister carried a black trash bag out of the house and borrowed her car for a 30-minute trip.

The morning after the alleged murder occurred, Aaron Hernandez and Shayanna Jenkins were captured by their home security camera engaged in a long embrace.

Since the gun allegedly used to kill Odin Lloyd was also captured in Aaron’s possession minutes after the murder, prosecutors believe that Shayanna got rid of the gun.

The fiancée of Aaron Hernandez lied 29 times to a grand jury investigating the slaying of a Dorchester man that the former New England Patriot is alleged to have committed, a prosecutor said Tuesday in a court filing.

Jenkins was previously indicted on perjury charges after allegedly offering a false testimony to the grand jury about this case.

Bristol County First Assistant District Attorney William M. McCauley alleged that Shayanna lied repeatedly during her testimony under oath in August. According to his filed paperwork, Shayanna Jenkins allegedly lied 29 times in her testimony.

Prosecutors believe that Aaron Hernandez’s fiancée lied about the conversations that she and the alleged murder had on June 18, when Aaron called her from the office of his attorney. She also allegedly lied about why she removed items from her home, how she got rid of the items, as well as her overall lack of knowledge in regards to the items.

McCauley also claimed that Jenkins lied about not speaking to Wallace since Odin Lloyd was murdered.

Jenkins’ lawyer, Janice Bassil, originally dismissed the filed allegations.

“Perhaps they feel if they throw enough mud against the wall, something will stick… I guess it’s going to be a long trial.”

McCauley’s filing also stated that Jenkins lied when she said she had not spoken to Ernest Wallace, one of Aaron’s alleged associates, since Lloyd’s death.

If Shayanna was convicted on the perjury charge, she could have faced up to a maximum of 20 years in prison. Perhaps her newly granted immunity will convince her to testify again and honestly answer the prosecutors’ questions.

Inclement weather conditions have reportedly delayed the Aaron Hernandez trial until Wednesday.
