Uma Thurman’s Face Looks Almost Unrecognizable, See For Yourself
Uma Thurman recently made a rare red carpet appearance for the premiere party of her new NBC miniseries, The Slap. The actress made headlines because of the drastic change in her looks that made her almost unrecognizable. Her famous cheekbones are gone, replaced with puffy cheeks and her forehead is “suspiciously smooth,” as reported by the Daily Mail. However, is this because of procedures done on her face, or the effects of aging over time? After all, it’s been a while since Uma Thurman was last seen in the spotlight.

Mark Norfolk, Clinical Director at Transform Cosmetic Surgery, commented on Uma Thurman’s looks saying that she must have had a couple of procedures done recently.
“Uma certainly looks like she’s undergone a dramatic transformation and in my opinion, she’s looking too overdone,” Norfolk said.
“The thing that strikes me most is that her eye area looks very different. It looks as though she’s had a recent lower blepharoplasty treatment, also known as eye bag removal. She isn’t wearing any eyeliner or mascara, probably in order to avoid infection from the new surgery.”
Glasshouse Clinic’s Alison Telfer seems to echo Norfolk’s sentiments about Uma Thurman’s new look. According to Telfer, “Uma has long been known for her chiseled jawline. As much as this is seen as a valued asset in younger years, having a chiseled jawline can be very ageing [sic] as women get older.” She adds, “When women naturally have very chiseled jawlines, you need to be very careful with treatment, the lower face can look very heavy in the early days or if it’s overdone.”

Last year, Renee Zellweger became the subject of plastic surgery rumors after she appeared on the red carpet looking drastically different.

The actress said in an interview, “I’m glad folks think I look different! I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows.”
Uma Thurman and Renee Zellweger are just the recent examples of how actresses are subjected to scrutiny because of their looks. It’s a well-documented fact that Hollywood actresses over 40 have a hard time finding suitable roles, but it’s even harder for actresses like Uma Thurman and Renee Zellweger to make a comeback after several years out of the spotlight.
#UmaThurman‘s smooth face is not as alarming as our looks-obsessed society is about ageing. My @thedailybeast piece: http://t.co/KGd5ulyMJa — Tim Teeman (@TimTeeman) February 10, 2015
Perhaps they did have procedures done, or perhaps it’s just them aging out of the spotlight. The changes are, indeed, surprising, and the social media backlash that hounded these actresses proves that Hollywood is still an industry based on looks.
This may be controversial, but I think Uma Thurman looks exactly like Uma Thurman.
