‘Melissa And Joey’ Cut From ABC Family’s Lineup

Melissa and Joey has officially been cut from ABC Family’s lineup. After four seasons, the network will be saying farewell to one of its fan-favorite comedies.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on the sitcom will stop at the end of the fourth season.

“We are proud of the milestones Melissa & Joey has achieved, being the network’s first sitcom to reach 100 episodes and the network’s first comedy to win a People’s Choice Award,” Karey Burke, ABC Family’s executive vice president of programming and development, said in a statement.

The show, starring Melissa Joan Hart as Mel Burke and Joey Lawrence as Mel’s “manny” Joe Longo, ended season three with Mel and Joe going from employer/employee to husband and wife.

“Now that the kids are grown and Mel and Joe have married and are looking toward starting a family, it seemed like a natural time to bring the series to a close. We are grateful to Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence, and the whole cast and crew who worked so hard on this successful show.”

Hart shared the news on Twitter with her more than 500,000 followers.

Hart also posted a photo of the cast on Instagram with a quote from Dr. Seuss that read, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

The end of an era of my life. This week will be tough! But onwards and upwards! #MelissaandJoey #drseuss

According to the Daily Mail, the mid-season finale is scheduled for March 18, and the final episodes will air later this summer.
