New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Plot Rumors, Including What Luke Skywalker May Be Up To

It seems like you can’t spend five minutes online these days without stumbling over a new piece of Star Wars information. Since Disney first announced the rights to the franchise a couple years back, fans have been constantly starving for more information. The release of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser back in November only fueled the fire even more. Yet despite all that, specific plot details have been incredibly rare to come by, and we still don’t have so much as a simple synopsis to hold us over.

Well, the guys over at Making Star Wars have us covered (hat tip to Cinema Blend). A source that wished to remain anonymous contacted them recently, and spilled the beans on all kinds of plot details, including what we can expect Luke Skywalker to be doing throughout the film.

It bears repeating that none of this is information is confirmed. And spoiler alert for Star Wars: The Force Awakens if you prefer to go into the film completely untainted by internet rumors and speculation.

With that out of the way, here we go.

Rey
Daisy Miller as Rey in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’

“Rey and Luke [Skywalker] go into hiding at exactly the same time for the same reason. She is the daughter of Han and Leia and she’s tasked with protecting a lightsaber that can open a proverbial Pandora’s Box of evil. Artifacts being sought after by Kylo Ren (the lightsaber-wielding Sith from the teaser) are collected because they’re trying to figure out which artifact will open the tomb. Luke Skywalker is guarding the tomb and being tormented by evil spirits that appears half crazed from the duty he’s been on.”

Domhnall Gleeson
Domhnall Gleeson’s character is a former Rebel who defected to the Empire.

“Domhnall Gleeson[‘s character] was a rebel for many years and he’s the son of “a huge character.” But he defected to the Empire when he learned that the Rebels had constructed a super weapon in secret. With less than honorable people in the Rebel Alliance now, Gleeson’s character is tasked with hunting Finn (un-helmeted Stormtrooper shown at the beginning of the teaser) while also on a secret mission to destroy both super weapons of the Empire and the Rebels.”

Gwendoline Christie
Gwendoline Christie’s character is rumored to be a lead chrome trooper.

“Gwendoline Christie[‘s character] is this lead shock trooper. She’s a chrome trooper with black and red cape that is hunting Finn. She uses a lightsaber, is arrogant, demeaning, and kills indiscriminately. Her face is heavily scarred and she has a military haircut. Yes, the ability to cloak herself did come up and it supposedly is used twice in the movie.”

The rumors go deeper into things like Finn’s backstory and such, but in broad strokes, the above encapsulates the big details for The Force Awakens. One last thing that is a bit clever has to do with Finn’s character and his use of a blaster.

“There is a scene which shows Finn trying to shoot a blaster and he is awful – it’s a little in-joke about how inept Stormtroopers were in the Original Trilogy.”
