The state of Georgia has seen its fair share of tragedy recently. Several high profile cases in Georgia have dominated the headlines, from Bobbi Kristina Brown’s bathtub incident, to the couple killed by a phony Craigslist seller, and most recently the discovery of five people found murdered in their Georgia home.
Late Saturday evening, Troup County Police uncovered a grisly scene in LaGrange, Georgia. According to People, a total of five people were found dead in an apparent horrific homicide that has left the officers stunned. James Woodruff, Troup County Sheriff, says the tragedy may have happened as early as Wednesday.
“In law enforcement, you see bad things every day. But I’ve never seen a crime scene like this in my 25 years or so in law enforcement – never a scene with five victims inside a home.”
LaGrange Daily News reports that the bodies of the five victims were found scattered throughout the Georgia home. Two were located in one bedroom, two others each in separate bedrooms, and one in the kitchen. Four of the deceased were shot, while the fifth was murdered in a different way. Authorities are not releasing any information regarding the type of killing the fifth victim suffered.
Georgia police are searching for Thomas J. Lee in connection with this tragedy. Lee is described as six feet, three inches tall, 26-years-old, and approximately 190 pounds.
The victims of this latest tragedy in Georgia are identified as Sheila Burtron, 68; William Burtron, 69; Bailey Burtron, 16; Thomas Lee’s wife, Christie, 33; and 18-year-old Iiaonna Green, who is the only victim not related to the suspect.
However, some type of argument seemed to have taken place at the Georgia home to instigate this tragedy, according to Sergeant Smith.
“He [Lee] is not here at the home and we understand there may have been a dispute or something between one of the victims here. We have not been able to make contact with him at all.”
The bodies might have laid undiscovered indefinitely but for the employer of one of the victims, who alerted police that he had not been present at work for several days.
What reason could one have for murdering five people, four of whom were family members? Whatever happened, this homicide adds to the growing list of tragedy in Georgia. What are your thoughts on this tragedy, or the others, that have taken place in Georgia?
