Red Hot Chili Peppers Reschedule 2012 Tour

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced a postponement of their 2012 North American tour. The hold-up is due to lead vocalist Anthony Keidis suffering a foot injury and requiring surgery, which could either be very rock ‘n’ roll (he jumped in a swimming pool of ladies from a fourth-floor balcony) or embarrassingly un -rock ‘n’ roll (he stood on his little girl’s Lego ). We just don’t know.

Anyway, said tour was due to begin on January 20 in Sunrise, FL and wrap up on March 16. The revised tour is somewhat later – kicking off on March 31 in Orlando, FL, and concluding October 25 in Little Rock, AR.

15 of the 23 tour dates have sold out, so disappointed fans won’t be in short supply. And whereas the tour was previously scheduled to take place over a two-month period, it will now be stretched out over a seven month period. Well, they have been going 29 years …

While we don’t know the cause of Kiedis’s foot problems, we do know the 49-year-old (nobody ages as well as Kiedis, it would seem) recently went under the surgeon’s scalpel to remove a crushed sesamoid bone and correct a detached flexor tendon in his foot. His recovery is expected to be smooth.

Alas, bouncing around on a stage isn’t part of his treatment, so sorry, middle managers and secretaries of the world, you’ll have to wait to see Anthony and his two old dude friends. But not for too long. The old and new dates are as follows:
