General Hospital has a new Kiki Jerome hitting Port Charles in the wake of actress Kristen Alderson's departure. Long-time soap fans may recognize the new Kiki, as the actress taking on the gig has been on a few shows previously. Who is stepping into Alderson's shoes?
The news that Kristen Alderson had decided to leave General Hospital came as a bit of a shock to many fans. She has since shared that she is leaving the soap in order to explore other opportunities and take a bit of a break from the world of soaps. Long-time fans know that she's been on soaps for many years, and it seems she's feeling ready to mix things up a bit.
The character of Kiki Jerome is fairly central to the world of Port Charles at the moment, so many GH fans were curious to see where the show would head with the character in the wake of Alderson's departure. According to Daytime Confidential, Hayley Erin will take over the role.
Hayley Erin is already a veteran in the soap opera world. She played Abby on The Young and the Restless from 2008 to 2010. She was replaced by Emme Rylan, who went on to take over the role of Lulu Spencer Falconeri on General Hospital. As Soap Opera Network notes, Erin has also appeared on Disney's Austin & Ally as Piper as well as ABC Family's Melissa & Joey as Noelle.
Though ABC has not revealed exact dates yet, it is said that Alderson will continue to appear on-screen as Kiki into early February, with Erin taking over shortly after that. As Michael Fairman Soaps notes, ABC has confirmed Alderson's departure and Erin's casting. They wish Kristen well in her new professional journeys and note that Hayley will start appearing in the role of Kiki in late February.
While some roles in the soap world sit empty for months as the head honchos work on a recast, as was seen in roles such as Adam Newman on The Young and the Restless and Jason Morgan on General Hospital, the role of Kiki was one that needed to be recast relatively quickly considering her presence in multiple current storylines.
Many GH fans think that there is a lot of potential in the role of Kiki Jerome, and they are anxious to see where Hayley Erin takes the character. Though many are sad to see Kristen Alderson leave the soap, they will definitely be following along to see where she lands next. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
