Mom On Strike: Woman With Unruly Daughters Decides To Stop Parenting, Sparks Debate [Video]
“This mom is going on strike!”
One mother has reportedly had enough of the stressful responsibility of parenting, so she’s decided to take a stand. However, her retaliation has nothing to do with lack of concern for her children. She’s just tired of being mistreated and disrespected by her two children.
According to WFMY-News-2, Naasira Muhammad is a single mother to two teenage daughters. She’s put forth a gratuitous effort to make sure her children live a comfortable lifestyle and that their wants and needs are met. But, unfortunately her children are extremely unappreciative. Since her daughters are teenagers, conventional disciplinary methods such as “time out” are quite difficult to enforce. Muhammad revealed she’s constantly met with opposition.
“My children have everything that they could possibly want and need, yet still they are disrespectful, they are rude.”
The Winston-Salem mom reportedly reached her breaking point with their unruly behavior when one of the girls allegedly keyed her car as an act of rebellion. The argument was so bad Muhammad called the police for her children, but unfortunately her claims did not lead to any repercussions for the girls because she couldn’t provide solid proof that the girls were responsible for the damage.

At that point, she’d had enough. She now has a picket sign that reads, “Mom On Strike,” and she’s been walking up and down the street near their home in order to make her sentiments clear to her children.
“They think that I am the meanest mom in the world and they think that they can survive without me. So I said, ‘You know what? That’s fine. I’m going on strike. I threw my hands up in the air. I prayed about it. I’m through. I’m through. I’m really through. I’m a mom on strike, I don’t care how long it takes… I’m just frustrated. And this is the only solution that I could think of, other than getting rid of my children.”
Naasira Muhammad’s “mom on strike” movement has sparked quite a debate. While some people sympathize with the frustrated mother and have verbally supported her actions, others actually feel her teenage daughters’ behavioral problems are a result of poor parenting.

Regardless of what people think, Muhammad feels her method is effective and that she is definitely making a statement. Unfortunately, she feels going on strike is the last alternative, as no other options are available to rectify the situation.
“This is the only solution I can think of other than getting rid of my children.”
