Bill Belichick Addresses Media About #DeflateGate, Doesn’t Have An Explanation [Breaking]

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick addressed the media in Foxborough, Massachusetts, this morning, and the very first thing that he was asked about was the accusations that his team (or someone on his team) cheated by deflating footballs. According to Boston.com, Belichick responded in fairly typical fashion.

“I had no knowledge of the various steps involved with the game balls. I have never talked to any player, staff member about football air pressure. To me, the footballs are approved by game officials, and we play with what’s out there.”

Bill Belichick seemed to encourage the media to ask Tom Brady about the alleged “deflated” footballs, which have left many calling the Patriots cheaters, and calling for the team to forfeit their Super Bowl spot. Belichick said that he had “no knowledge” of what was going on with the whole #deflategate until Monday morning.

According to USA Today, 11 of the 12 footballs that the Patriots used during Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts were found to be under-inflated. While it seems like this was likely a result of the weather (there are some scientific formulas out there that prove this theory), the team has been under investigation all week.

“The NFL is investigating this situation. We have cooperated fully and quickly and completely with every request that they have made and intend to be cooperative in any way that we can. I have no explanation for what happened and that’s what their looking into. … That’s something us should talk to them about… When I came in Monday morning I was shocked to learn of the news report about the footballs. I had no knowledge whatsoever of this situation until Monday morning.”

Bill Belichick also offered a “solution” to the “problem.”

“Any deflation would take us under specification limit. In the future, we will certainly inflate footballs above that low level to account for possible change… we will take steps in future to make sure we don’t put ourselves in that situation again.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, there are some reports that indicate Belichick will be fired after this season because of the cheating allegations against the team. Sources say that this just might be enough to push Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft to the extreme. Kraft wasn’t at all happy the last time the Patriots were accused of cheating (in which case the NFL proved that they did by filming the New York Jets from the sidelines back in 2007), and if anyone on the team is actually behind #deflategate, it could be the end of the road for Belichick.

This whole thing could, however, just be circumstantial (due to the weather). And if the Patriots win the Super Bowl, Belichick isn’t going anywhere… no matter what.
