All over the world, people say ‘I love you’ on Valentine’s Day with Krispy Kreme donuts. While most headlines about Valentine’s Day include what Justin Bieber is doing, the new changes to the Valentine’s Day donut boxes in Japan and America are well-received by loyal fans.
In Japan, Valentine’s Day is celebrated by women getting special treats for the men — especially chocolate. Last year, Rocket News announced that Valentine’s Day in Japan included a limited edition box of chocolate donut treats from Krispy Kreme with three flavors. For 2,000 yen, or US $20, you got your choice of three flavors to complete your rich chocolate dozen. Included were the roasted almond, raspberry, strawberry cake, and caramel with chocolate cream.
This year, Rocket News reported they are bringing back the 2015 Valentine’s Day box in Japan. The 2015 limited edition Valentine’s Day flavors in Japan will be flavors like salted almond chocolate, double berry jelly and chocolate, strawberry with Belgian-chocolate filling, and caramel with Belgian-chocolate filling.
In America, Valentine’s Day at Krispy Kreme will include a variety of heart-shaped donuts. Sales for the 2015 Valentine’s Day box will begin on January 26 and end on February 15.
The donuts will include a strawberry-iced ‘O’-shaped and ‘X’-shaped Kiss and Hug donuts. There will also be a heart-shaped donut with sprinkles, a chocolate-iced heart donut, with or without sprinkles. To complement the tastes of your box of Valentine’s donuts, Krispy Kreme will also continue to offer customers a vanilla spiced latte.
According to WHAS11 News, to kick off the 2015 Valentine’s Day donut boxes, Krispy Kreme hired five artists to create special advertising. Hailing from the U.K. and America, participating Krispy Kreme’s will be displaying the Valentine’s Day work that these artists created on a rotating basis.
Krispy Kreme announced on their website that there will be a new shape in the 2015 Valentine’s Day boxes at Krispy Kreme: The Luv Bug. No news was posted about whether or not the Japanese Valentine’s Day donut flavors would be offered to American customers or vice versa.
