Is Penny Drossos Joining ‘RHONJ’ For Season 7?

RHONJ Penny

Penny Drossos is reportedly in talks to join the cast of The Real Housewives of New Jersey ahead of Season 7. Previously seen as a guest star, Drossos is said to have caught the attention of Bravo producers, who feel she would be good for ratings.

“Bravo noticed that episodes from season five with Penny Drossos were particularly rated well,” the insider explained to Radar Online on January 15.

“Due to the high ratings on the episodes she was on- and the drama she brought- Bravo has talked about bringing Penny back. However, Penny and Johnny would have to drop their lawsuit against the network for that to happen. If their lawsuit was dropped, the network would be open to Penny returning.”

Last year, during The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 5, Penny Drossos made waves when she found herself at the center of a cheating rumor involving Melissa and Joe Gorga. On the season’s finale episode, Drossos was confronted by Melissa, who wanted to know where she heard that Joe had cheated on her. When Drossos claimed it was Teresa Giudice, Melissa’s sister-in-law, the cast engaged in a heated dispute.

During the same episode, Jacqueline Laurita confronted Drossos’ husband, Johnny Karagiorgis, about a tweet he allegedly posted about her autistic son.

As for Karagiogis’ lawsuit against several cast members, including Laurita and Joe Gorga and the network, Reality Tea reported it was filed in October 2013.

At the time, Karagiogis claimed he sustained “serious bodily injury” at the hands of 50 unnamed defendants who were part of the altercation, and Drossos claimed to be suffering from emotional distress.

The couple suffered “bruising, scarring, disfigurement, fractured bones, facial lacerations, mental anguish, psychological health problems, physical discomfort, pain and suffering, economic losses, and shame and embarrassment,” Reality Tea reported.

As the Inquisitr reported on January 13, The Real Housewives of New Jersey is currently in jeopardy of being put on hold. According to a TMZ source, Bravo feels the show simply won’t do as well without Giudice.

“Bravo is seriously considering shelving ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ until Teresa gets sprung… they think she’s THAT important to the success of the show.”

If Drossos does drop her suit and agree to join the show, Radar claimed she’d have to be paid a sizable salary.

“Penny would be open to considering the idea if an offer was put on the table. The offer, would have to be a good one, with [Penny Drossos] getting a full time housewife spot and being compensated well financially.”
