Alabama Chick-Fil-A Owner’s Act Of Kindness Toward A Homeless Man Goes Viral On Facebook

The owner of a Birmingham, Alabama, Chick-fil-A restaurant is making national attention once again for his kindness toward a homeless man. On Wednesday, January 8, a patron named Andrea Stoker had the privilege of witnessing the owner’s heartwarming act, and she decided to share details about it via Facebook.

“I’m a Chick-fil-A fan and have been for years. I trust the food for my son and support companies that are founded on Christian beliefs. What I saw today just confirms why this chain is so successful — God blesses His people,” Stoker wrote. “My son and I were at the location on Highway 280 in Birmingham, AL when a man came in to escape the 35 degree temps and strong winds with all of his earthly possessions… trapped to his back.”

The man who appeared to be homeless was reportedly just looking for a temporary place where he could warm up because of the blistering cold 35-degree weather. However, he got much more than warmth when he was approached by an employee. The man turned out to be Mark Meadows — the owner of the Chick-Fil-A location. Instead of shunning the man and ushering him back out the door, Meadows held a conversation with the man when he approached him.

During a recent interview with AL.com, Meadows gave a personal account of the heartwarming exchange.

“Sometimes we have individuals walk in the store that it’s obvious need some help. Yesterday at around 3:30 p.m. a gentleman walked in — I don’t know if he is homeless or not — but he walked up to me and asked if there was anything he could do to earn a little food. I asked him if he had a pair of gloves because he kept rubbing his hands together.”

Stoker’s post quickly began circulating around the network, and immediately caught the attention of the media. received more than 78,000 Facebook likes and over 2,000 comments. In addition to giving her account of the heartwarming gesture, she also shared how the Chick-fil-A owner’s actions personally touched her heart. She was simply overjoyed that she had the privilege of witnessing the act of kindness first-hand.

“Most businesses would force him out but I watched as the manager walked up to him and asked if he could do anything for him. Before the man could even answer, the manager asked if he had a pair of gloves and walked to the table at which he’d been sitting and picked up his own. As he handed the man his gloves, he asked another employee to get him something to eat. It was wonderful to see your employees being the hands and feet of Jesus, and that my son was able to witness it all. Thank you for putting your money where your mouth is.”

However, the kind act actually isn’t Meadows’ first to garner national attention. Last year, during “Snowpocalypse 2014,” he made headlines for similar good deeds. As matter of fact, the Chick-fil-A owner revealed situations like the viral exchange happen all the time at his restaurant!
