Mia Khalifa: Lebanon-Born Adult Film Star Responds To Death Threats, Says She Won’t Back Down

Mia Khalifa was recently named the top adult actress on the adult website Pornhub, but the attention has led to a number of death threats toward the 21-year-old from Muslims who say her actions are sinful.

Khalifa was born in Beirut, Lebanon, but moved to the United States when she was 10. Though new to the adult film industry, she reached the No. 1 ranking on the site Pornhub.

But many radical Muslims have taken offense to Khalifa, calling her “a disgrace” to Lebanon and saying her actions are shameful.

Mia Khalifa is taking the abuse in stride, however. She has re-tweeted a number of the hateful messages, calling out those who threaten her.

A number of the death threats are coming directly from Lebanon, after a series of conservative newspapers criticized her No. 1 ranking. Khalifa takes pride in her Lebanese heritage, with an Arabic tattoo of the Lebanese national anthem and another tattoo of the Lebanese Forces cross, the symbol of a Lebanese conservative Christian political party. She has also commented on social and political issues pertaining to Lebanon.

Many of the death threats focused on an adult film in which she appears in traditional Muslim garb. Mia Khalifa, who is not Muslim, told the Washington Post such scenes are “satirical.”

“There are Hollywood movies that depict Muslims in a much worse manner than any scene Bang Bros [the company who made the video] could produce.”

Others are standing up for Mia Khalifa. Beirut-based blogger Gino Raidy defended the Miami-based actress, saying it is only her decision and not a concern of anyone else.

“I don’t really care what any of you think about her career choice, after all, it’s her body to do whatever she wants with,” he wrote.

But despite the death threats, porn actress Mia Khalifa said she will not shy away from commenting on Lebanese political and social issues.
