Football fans can watch the Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys game live online and see whether an ailing Aaron Rodgers can pull his club past a Dallas team that is equal parts dominance and luck.
Rodgers is dealing with the lingering effects of an injured right calf, but said he is determined to play. He will face off against a Dallas team that has been playing great defense down the stretch, had an offensive explosion in the final month of the season, and also got a bit of help from referees in its opening round win.
The game kicks off at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, with coverage on Fox.
The Dallas Cowboys enter the game after one of the most controversial playoff games in recent memory. The Cowboys beat the Detroit Lions 24-20, thanks in large part to what appeared to be a blown defensive pass interference call.
With eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and the Lions driving, Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens appeared to interfere with Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew, and the referee threw a flag.
But after conferring with other officials, the flag was picked up, and the Lions were faced with a fourth down, which they did not convert. Lions players were irate with the blown call and the fact that Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant ran onto the field without his helmet in order to argue (he was also not penalized).
The NFL admitted its wrongdoing, with Dean Blandino, the vice-president for officiating in the NFL, saying it should have been called for defensive pass interference.
But the Dallas Cowboys must put the controversy behind them as they prepare to face off against one of the best offensive units in the league in some frigid conditions. Temperatures are expected to hover in the 20s on game day in Green Bay.
The game could conjure memories of the Ice Bowl, the 1967 NFL Championship game in which the Packers prevailed over the Cowboys on a day when the wind chill dipped to -48 degrees Fahrenheit.
"Guys like football and guys understand the history and tradition of the NFL and the Cowboys and Packers," said Dallas coach Jason Garrett. "It's an exciting game to be a part of."
Fans who watch the Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers live online will see two teams putting perfect records on the line. Dallas was 8-0 on the road this year, Green Bay 8-0 at home.
"(The Cowboys are) here for a reason," defensive back Micah Hyde told the Packers' official website. "It's going to be a huge game. We don't pay attention to them being 8-0 on the road because they haven't come here and beaten us here at Lambeau, but it's going to be a tough matchup and we understand that."
